anti-knock sensors in older car

Hi. I'm planning to build a torbocharged, stroked smallblock engine in a 1960's musclecar body. Can I buy an antiknock system for this car which has no original computer system? I want to feel comfortable that the motor doesn't get into detonation without my being aware of it and maybe wrecking the motor. Any suggestions?

1987 Chevy siverado, 350 4 barrel with ESC distributor, and spark module locted over the glove compartment. Look for one, and install it on yours, of course I hope it's a chevy motor you are building.

Have a look here. There should be a few aftermarket knock systems. Do some research on them and see what fits your needs. I personally havent used any of these, as my FI setup has a knock system integrated.

I imagine the MSD and Accel units are of pretty good quality.

you might want to look into the FIVE wire HEI distributors from Oldsmobile, as those were the HEI's that had knock sensor wire

any non-knock olds hei will have less or more wires

not sure what years they were used, maybe one of the olds guys can fill you in there, but you might be able to adapt the olds hei module to w/e your building
