I love them to death! Great power AND drivability! You just can't go wrong!! Sometimes a little pricey but if you know what fits when the your money ahead.

I love efi but I hate the TBI. They are cooky and they are prone to vacuum leaks inside the unit. I have seen people sell their TPI setup off of camaros for around 200 bucks with the computer at a few swap meets.

tbi isnt the ticket for anything, you get the poor distribution of a carbed car with a crappy manifold design, about the only tbi that works it the holley projection 4di. but then you are talking 1500 bucks.

now dont think i am knocking fuelinjection, i dont own a car with a carb (even the hot rod is fuelinjected 8-stacks rule..). but if you want a fuelinjection that works you must get atleast a tpi setup, or a tpi manifold and some aftermarket computer. somthing like a sdefi setup will run
you arround 850 http://www.sdsefi.com/specific.html
(only about twice the price of a custom chip) for the computer, then all you need is a TPI manifold with injectors and sensors and NO harness and S#IT-GM computer

if you dont want to spend that kind of money, then forget all about tuning or modifying that efi SB, it will never ever work as well as a well adjusted carb without port fuel injection.

or to save you the hastle a complete TPI retrofit is 1500 : http://www.speartech.com/firetro-smallblock.html
i would go that route, i know its more money than you expected, but to be prefectly honest this is just a better deal, and way more suited for perfoemance.

but if all you need is towing power, well than leave the TBI as is, remember.. if it aint broken... dont fix it

COCHEV their is no real performance advantage between tbi ver`s carb! although tbi may be a little better on fuel due to it`s optimun operating settings. as far as performance chips? the parameters can only be adjusted a very small amount and you will only be wasting your money! unless you want to spend some money on an aftermarket system? Do not buy the Holly projection! your question was a little unclear? are you thinking about swaping the hole engine?
