any good air drill with variable trigger?
 

I obviously wouldn't expect the trigger to be as touchy or strong as a powered drill but a few air drills are toted as having a variable trigger. This IR is said to have a variable trigger. Any thoughts? And yes I know air drills bog down when they're not fully throttled but I'd like to have one with just a tad of throttle touch.

inline air reg. at inlet, just like a paint gun.. you can set whatever speed you want.. with a turn of a knob

yeah, I'd have that too but also would like some feel on the trigger. Mainly for my cobalt bits and spot cutter...basically everything I'd put into it. Thanks for the input.

All of My air drills have a variable trigger, They also have nuch more torque than electric drills. Like the previous poster mentioned, you can control the speed even more by using a regulator

I don't think it's possible for them to have more torque due to being powered by air flowing through vanes, which means at the lower rpms it won't have the torque, where as a powered one would be more consistent throughout, but I'd like to think that the higher quality airdrills MAY be somewhat compareable to the powered ones. So which air drills do you have? do you have an IR one? On a side note, I would think that if more air drills had a lever instead of a trigger that also might help it trigger a little easier. You see those levers on the angled air drills but not normal drills but I have a feeling that could help as well.

I've had IR's, both 1/4 & 3/8" for years and both are variable speed. Couldn't say how finite the control on the triggers are, never noticed. Love 'em though, and I've had many others including Snap-Ons & Mac's. The IR's always do whatever I need them to. :thumbup: Bob

sweet, thanks for that. I read a review on line and someone said exactly what you said. I just had a HF one and it was basically stop or go, nothing inbetween. A few weeks after purchase it took 5 minutes just to get a bit out of it cause the bearings must have locked up or something. POS!

I have Mac air drills, a small 1/4 inch, and a 1/2 inch. the small one turns 2000 rpm, & the 1/2 inch runs 700 rpm. I like the small one, It is handy due to its small size. It has as much torqu as a typical 1/4 inch electric drill

never been let down by a mac tool. Love their air ratchets.
