Any tips on dodge 518 Transmission

I picked up a dodge 518 non-lockup transmission to go behind a crate 360 for a street rod I'm building. I've rebuilt many 727's but never a 518. Anything I should look for? will the 727 converter fit? Thanks. Dan

the front section of the 518 is basic 727....

the OD section needs special tools and a press of some type (hydraulic or arbor) to rebuild . if you do not have them you can get hurt by the large coil spring inside the OD section.
Dont worry how old you are... it is the mileage on your body that adds up.

depending on the year of production, the trans may need some upgraded parts. Find a performance minded trans shop. The OD section in these transmissions can cause REAL heartache. Expensive, broken heartache.
