I've been spraying for around 6 years now and have been lately buying better tools and reading and asking around on tips and techniques. I've learned a lot. I used to mix my own metallics using crescent bronze flakes (several colors and of course silver).

I've recently switched to DuPont products. It seems like having a system that's been designed to work well has helped me immensely.

But I still don't claim to be the expert on it. Here's what I have found:

-Too dry and it looks good usually but can have adhesion problems
-Too wet and it looks mottled.

Any tips and tricks to getting a beautiful metallic finish? I'm still a little green on metallics. I will be the first to say I'm a hack! I do it until it works. But it'd be nice to work from an educated perspective if possible.

DuPont Chromabase is about as easy as it gets, very user friendly.
Getting it on not to wet and not to dry just takes practice.
DuPont does have a basemaker made just for metallics for better
control. I think it's only available in gallons though.
It's a slower dry which also helps.
