Post Anybody with a firebird or a 350 out there

My friend was thinking about getting a 78' firebird with a 350 in it. But he doesn't think he would be able to afford the gas on it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the mpg's up while at the same time not dropping the horsepower, atleast not to much.
Would we be able to put a fuel injection system on it?

If so what would that do, where and how much could we get one?
Thanks

Actually with a stock or mild 350 the mpg isn't that bad on those cars. I have a '77 Trans Am I'm currently ripping apart to make something else, but I've built a few firebirds other than this one. fuel injection won't do much and your not talking something cheap and easy to toss on, theres electronics envolved etc. If your worried about gas, keep the mods mild the gears mild and get the engine tuned. There is no way to get performance without sacrificing gas mialage.
