Anybody on here sand bending exhaust?

I did this in my teens to made headers for flat head V8S.Brase a freeze plug in one end pack sand in the tube (from the sand bed in front of my house)weld another freeze plug, heat with a rose bud tip in the torch and bend around a old fire bottle. It was slow ,a lot of work and I could never get sharp bends to come out right. But I made enough of them to make enough cash to buy the parts that I needed for my motor.
God this is something that I have not thought about for a long time.If I were to build something along these lines today I would buy a couple of boxs of pre bent tubes and go to work building from them.
Much easier !!

Kenny

I have to tell you, I have tried the bending the tubing stuff, never again. Buy a kit with U bends and straight pipe and then just cut the U bend where you need it to make up your bent pipe. It works like a charm and looks WAY better.
