Anyone actually built one of these?

Hi guys,

I was looking into buliding a body rotisserie and have seen plans for the following two:

http://www.mgbexperience.com/rotator/

http://www.prostreetcar.com/body_rotisserie.html

Has anyone actually used either of these plans and built one of these exactly? They both look like they will do the job. Someone sent me more detailed CAD drawings (as a PDF file) of the top one I could forward if anyone wants them. I am not an engineer so I can't tell by the plans how strong they will be. I'm hoping to break in the new welder by building one of these for my 66 Malibu.

Thanks as always!

George

I made mine from a couple of discarded Lakewood engine stands and some scrap split seam (factory seconds) tubing that I got from a tubing manufacturer near here. I welded up the skips in the seams, extended the stand bases and made a long swinging cradle that I bolt bodies to, I had to guess at the center height but it works for most intermediate to small cars with little effort. Some of the tall stuff like truck cabs or old Ford bodies require a little help to rotate.

I bought the one from Mike Pell. It works great although I see a few things that I need to change on it. It held my '62 Impala and it rotated very easy.
