Anyone else hate Big Rims on Muscle Cars
Am I the only person that gets bothered by seeing DUB rims and other big rims on classic Muscle Cars? Muscle Cars are rare where I live (even the 80s Pony Cars have become a rare sight) but their are two Muscle Cars in my Neighborhood one is a 1968 Chevelle and the other is a 1969 Camaro. The Chevelle looks nice from a Distance, it is Orange with white stripes but when you get close you see the big 20 inch rims the guy has one it and I believe the car is juiced too! The Camaro also looks nice from a distance, black but it is sitting on 22s and I know this one is juiced!
My Dad thinks I am weird that it bothers me as do his friends. But it bothers me that these cars were meant to be driven and raced not thrown on 22s and trailed around to car shows. (The Chevelle gets trailed, the owner never drives it). The weird part is I don't live in the Ghetto either, I live in a gated Subdivision. Anyone else get bothered by this or should I just leave it as everyone has their own tastes? |
No it doesn't bother me---if it turns you on then that's all that matters, but i wonder why the need to put such large rims on a car?

They look like they are preparing to head west across the prairie.
To each his own though. Brad... |
I have to agree with MXrider13,but I guess its each to your own.

I think it is all about getting attention.... like facial tattoos and piercings.
It bothers me more to see tall wheels on street rods. "Back in the day" a serious horsepower car had deep rims and 10" tall sidewalls on the rear... either slicks or giant street tires! That's what a "serious" hot rod looks like to me. It just hard to look at a car with 3" tall sidewalls... and think of it as "bad". {:-( |
I have one word for that style...ghetto! We have a lot of old POS Buicks and Regals sitting on those type of rims out here. They'll have the biggest pile of dung car with ugly candy, wavy bodywork, shoddy work all around, yet have a pair of 28" rims that cost more than the whole car. I'd rather see them driving them than seeing their butt crack walking down the street with their pants falling off. I get a good laugh when I see those cars. Always playing the boom-boom-boom but it's all boom and no quality sound. Just a bunch of crap rattling around in the car and boom-boom-boom.
