Anyone install gas filler (cap) behind tailight, your thoughts..

I have been thinking, when I start to do body work on my 87 truck, I would like to maybe stick the gas filler behind the taillight. I would have to box in a part of the bed to allow the filler tube to come up and meet the rear of the light housing, but I was wondering what others have used in the way of hinges, how where they attached? I would also like to know what was used as a latch to hold the tailight closed? Thanks

Check out a 56 Chevy, 57 Chevy or a 58 Caddy for some hints.........or, you can go like the late 60s GMs and put it behind the rear lisence plate.

I used to have an old pontiac that had the gas filler behind the license plate. I would like to keep it up higher, if I don't have to bend the better, I'm lazy. I guess if I could get the springs that held the license plate closed to work on the tailight that might be pretty good, I would think it would require one strong epoxy. Hmmm, good point, thanks

I would still like pix if someone has done something like this.
