Anyone know how to install 39 door glass in a 40 ford tudor?

I have a 40 tudor sedan and I have 39 door glass. I don't know how to install the glass in the 40. Is there any links or pictures, etc. to show me how to do that?

Thanks!

39 door glass in 40 tudor

Is the 39 glass one piece or does it have a wing window. Is the 39 out of a tudor. Have you measured both pieces of glass to see that they are the same. I believe what you are tring to do is get rid of the wing window, and save some money by useing the 39 glass. I have had at least 6 40 Fords over the years, but don't rember much about the windows. I think The 39 glass went back a little before it went down, if that was what it did, and it was because of the solid glass you might have to put in the whole works, and not just the glass. I would think about putting new glass in it, that old glass won't be as clear as new glass because of age. I have sock glass in my 46, and the glass looked great, until I had to replace one , boy what a difference. I'm going to replace all my glass now. Check the size out and lrt me know if the 39 doesn't have the wing window. It will work if they are the same size, it's just what you have to use to get it up and down, If you are useing power windows then you just have to put the unit in, in the right place .

The two door door is longer, thus the glass is longer. I believe the 39 regulator is different and the 40 door would have to have some modification done to use the glass if you had a four door glass.

The 39 had a deep vertical channel that the glass slid back to create a "vent" at the front. (1934-1939 Fords used this design)

Brian You are right on the regulator, But did you start rolling down the window to get that gap, or did you go passed closed to get it.

Thats why I asked, I think you had to go passed closed. But I think the window came back a little when you rolled it down. That could be my terraplane though, now I will have to walk out to the shop and see. My 33 has power so that won't help, oh well thanks

On the '39 Tudor, the door window moves back, then down as you crank it down. The rear windows move back about 2" when you crank it up past close.

Due to the length of the 39 window glass, I am pretty sure you would need to use 39 window regulators instead of the '40 ones. You might also want to look at getting a set of '39 window moldings as well.

I'm thinking by the time all the dust dies you would be better off to just put 39 doors on it! I believe the door around the vent wing has some change to it as well.

Iagree with both. I would still use new glass instead of the old.
