Anyone run an xe284 in a 454?

I'm looking for some feedback. I've head plenty of xe274's in 396's, I figure with the extra cid it would still be ok . Also running a 3000 stall and 3:73 gear also. This is with oval port heads that have had some minor port work 9.5:1 compression. This is for my brothers car. He also has the matching 2" high rise factory intake but running a TII intake so he could run a 3310 750 Holley. Thanks, chieftain

That shouldn't be any problem whatsoever, you probably could have gone more aggressive than that even.

The XE 284H-10 will be just fine in your 454. it will not be too big.
The 3000stall is right on. The Torker II manifold sucks.
It will run fine but kills power every where compared to a hi rise dual plane RPM style manifold. Even the lowly Performer dual plane is better at all points.
Avoid the Torker II at all cost. (If you like power). Its the deal breaker.
The 284H cam needs a very agressive distributor advance curve.
Minimum 24 to 26deg at idle ...38 ish deg at WOT in a BBC 3000 and above rpm)
I run mine (284H in a 400SBC) distributor locked out 36deg full time with this cam.
