I don't know if this counts, but I've got an XE268 in my 406. It has forged pistons (10:1), Vortec heads and (Edelbrock) intake, headers, and a 750 Edelbrock.
The only problem I've had was a wiped lobe on the old 268 cam. So far, it's run ok for my purposes...I'm not a racer. I just want to be able to surprise some ricer with a loud exhaust and 10,000 stickers who believes he's a racer. |

I had the xe268h in a 355 with vortec heads, performer RPM intake, 1 5/8'' hooker comp headers, 650 dp carb, and 9.9:1 compression. The motor was in a 1972 nova and ran really well. It had great torque, but hp fell off around 5500 RPM. I never had it to the track, but I figured it ran around a 13.5 quarter. I also had a built 700R4 and a 3.90 rear gear which made the car a monster off the line.
