anyone sold with google wallet?

i never heard of it before, but a guy saw my ad on the seattle craigslist and from FLORIDA, he wants to buy my item from just a pic on the ad, using a thing called google wallet. he says he will send his shipper here to get it. it's a $5000 item. not a car but a big redwood bed.

should i be thinking scam at all and do the usual: cashiers check first, item later?

Google Wallet is Google's version of PayPal. I've used it several times as a buyer without any problems. That being said I've never been the seller so I don't know what fees are involved. Obviously you need a Google Wallet account to accept payments. Also whether or not there's a waiting period for the money to clear is something that's probably in the small print.

In your case I agree with Poncho. $5k is a lot of money to experiment with trying out any new service. Cashiers check or cash is the safest way. The fees using PayPal would be ridiculous.

he wanted me to use www.googlecheckout.com

google said they haven't even had that for over a year. they told me to terminate all contact with him.

fyi here is his phone number: 405 283 2598. he said his name is Jason and his address is somewhere in Fort McCoy, FL in case you hear from him selling a car or part.
