anyone vouch for this craftsman cabinet?
I like it but it has no wide drawers so I'll get a chest with at least one wide drawer. Wondering if anyone has this and what they think about it.

can't find any on there at the moment. I heard people thought the casters would give out or that the metal where the casters go isn't structurally sound. Did you get that feeling? Some of those drawers will have a lot of stuff in them. Ball bearings though so that's good. I think their boxes are priced very good considering strap-on and other brands charge an arm and leg.

I have the bottom box now for about 15 years or better... I like it.. Never really gave me any trouble..... I just never got the top box yet...

casters: if you roll it a lot. we would roll ours over a mile a day in a big plant. the company would buy commercial casters and we'd weld up an angle iron frame for the box to sit in. even those would break from a rough floor. they bought my old box because it was a wreck and i bought the one your looking at.
if your just rolling around the shop they're fine. i used mine in a smaller plant with smooth floors and have never had a problem. now it's at home. we have a tech with one of those big 8ft long snap-on, no top box. it has six 6 inch wheels on it, takes 2 guys to roll that one. his tools are one layer with lots of ''space'', mine is jammed packed shake-the-drawer to get them closed. kids... they think the box makes the tech. he's been paying for that box for years.

Ok, here is the stupid stuff, if you are a pro in a pro shop you need a SnapOn, Mac or Matco if you want respect, there I said it, sorry.
Is it dumb, yep, but them are the facts. I bought my Mac 1100 something like 20 years ago and have never regretted it. It was $1700 and I am damn glad I bought it. When I knocked it over and bent up some runners and a drawer I had them replaced in days. I will NEVER have to think about buying another box. They will have used ones for better prices (I always traded in mine and they gave me good money for them). Brian |

if you want respect learn to fix cars
mine is only 19 yrs old. ask me in a yr if it's still working. 20 yrs ago that box was $400, i could have bent the drawers, bought a new one and still not had the $1700 in it |

I would have to agree... A waste of money just for respect..... There is cheaper ways to get respect.. I would never spend that on a box... No need to..And as far as rolling mine around.... only to clean under it... Maybe Once ever 5 years or so....

I agree with you guys, I said it was stupid. But there once was a time when a Craftsmen box wasn't even close, not even in the same planet as a SnapOn, and they are still viewed that way. I haven't put them side by side so I don't know. I do know that I don't regret spending that money on my Mac box, I have earned a good living and it has more than paid for it's self.
