Anyone want to start a Hotrodders Art Contest?

I thought this about the Henry J all along. The other pictures posted are like a pre-game show. These guys didn't say they were entering them into the contest, they were having fun. Some reminisced about the old days when they drew more often. I think this post is great. Sure it would be nice to have more direction but couldn't it just be about having fun?
fortypickup (I spelled it right this time, I've had some practice) if you do decide to give it some more structure, judges could be anyone on the post just like a show & shine were, on many of them, the attendees do the judging. The prize could be having fun and the pride of winning.

As far as I am concerned keep the pictures coming but only submit a Henry J for judging.

Sorry I jumped in and screwed up the contest, I really am just funnin. I have no entry, just funnin.

I didn't think there was a "real" contest anyway being there are no solid guidelines or rules or judging.

If you want to have a contest, how about posting drawings that are submited in a new thread using the "poll" and let everyone who looks vote on them!

Without something like that, you have a rambling thread with guys posting stuff from thirty years ago.

Brian

I drew a Henry J..

At least that's what I had in mind while I was drawing...

If you can call what I did ........"drawing"

Hey man it's artistic license..

My theme wasn't gasser though, I was thinking moon buggy.

(note that the first pic I drew is the car re-entering the atmosphere).
A few other folks followed the rules....Ok so 79c10 made something that looked like a gremlin, (that was my first thought), and some people's skills arent fully developed, (mine looks like a horribly aborted Ghia front grafted on to something Russian..I don't know), But Pigjamelectric drew a nice one..dig the pig ...And this is kinda fun.

I want to see Malc's drawing...I think fortypickup needs to re-iterate the contest guidelines...

Later, mikey

You are all correct! "What we have here is a failure to communicate!"
My bad!

I listed a few guidelines in my very first post, but I was not very clear with rules because I didnt know how well it would go! Then I found out this same type of an art show has been done here before. (And I apologize again for not doing a search prior to posting this show) I am not one to have many rules, but as I can see in the thread that there is some confusion. So here are a few guidelines:

1) Have fun! Thats the Most important!
2) Stick to the subject that is picked, Change the view of the subject, change the color, change anything you want to about the subject, make it cool and have fun!
3) All the participants will pick the winner of the contest.
4) I just thought of this...Winner picks the next subject.

How does that sound?

Oh...I almost forgot, you get 2) two weeks to submit/post your artwork. The deadline for this one was the 7th, but with all the confusion I caused, do you think it should be extended another week?

Wadda ya'll think!

Man...... ya go to work for 8 and look what you miss.... I'll try not to sidetrack this thread too bad , but I'd like to say : It's funny how events tie together .
Fortypickup , you started a contest which got Powerrodsmike to submit a drawing that piqued my interest - due to its 'originality' -, which caused me to comment , which caused him (Mikey) to invite me into it , which got me to draw something for the first time in a long time.( I swear I was really tryin to do a Henry J ..... oh,well. ) and in turn , you drew out other folks who haven't drawn in a coons age either . New Interiors got reaquainted with crayolas , too , I believe . Since my little 'gremlin J ' , I've sketched out a few more things , and it's all due to this 'contest' .
So , thanks for getting it started - 5 pages later , I think we have it ironed out and ready to go. You guys who re-work it on the compooter are in a league I don't work too well in . I'll stick to pencils and crayons and such.
Hey - you want a REAL art contest , how about acrylic on canvas?? or watercolors?
Just Kiddin.
