The 221, 260, and early 289's had a 5 bolt bellhousing. The later model ( 65-on small blocks) had 6, and won't interchange. Phil

What?! Hey guess what gordon, the 260 is a v8. Ford made 5 windsor v8s that were the 221, 260, 289, 302, and 351. This guy's abviously talking about the second one. Ford used them before the 289, 302, and 351 were even created.

Tom is right. You can get a 5 bolt belhousing to fit the C4. Kind of rare, I got one from mustang ranch in WA. and sent it back. Would you like to by an original 64 1/2 289, cheap? The best you can do is the C4 or fordomatic. I changed engine and all. good luck.
