aod speedo sending unit ?

does anyone know how many pulses per revolution the stock sending unit is on an 89 aod out of a 89 Lincoln, 8 or 16? I'm putting in a Stewart warner wings 120mph electronic speedometer and have been told by S.W. tech that I need a 16 pulse per revolution sending unit. I still have the original sending unit that was in the AOD, and if its 16 then I can probably use it as compared to paying $100 for the Stewart Warner 82527 sending unit.
Thanks, Devin

the pulse count is determined by the number of teeth on the metal disc reluctor on the out put shaft.
