AOD Tranny won't go

I just swapped in a Grand MArquis '89 AOD tranny into my 68 mustang with a 351W from a Crown vic '87. The TQ was about half full when I put it in and I then proceded to put 5 or 6 quarts of Auto Tranny fluid. I started it and let it run for about 20 min. I then proceded to put it in gear and the car went nowhere! After about 5 more minutes, it slowly went forward when shifted (even when in reverse) Are there any suggestions on what the problem is. I have tried other sites but no one ever answers. Guess I'll ask the pros! THX!!

so the tranny is full on the dipstick?

Is this a known good / working tranny?

Was the converter with the tranny when you aquired it?

is the linkage properly hooked up for the shifter?

Is the TV linkage hooked up properly to the carb?

The dipstick has some fluid on it but do I need to check it while its running or not?
The tranny came from a junk yard so I did not see it go. But, the guy told me (I know, they are just words) that it was fine and he didn't want to sell me any AOD on his lot cuz he said it wouldn't fit my 68 coup (he was wrong).

The TQ was original with the car
The linkage is from LOKAR and it is correctly installed with the proper geometry of my stock shifter to tranny

The TV is installed and is tight to the point that any movement by the throttle, engages the TV cable. DOn't know any more about it cuz the car hasn't moved.
Thanks
