AOD Trouble

I have a84 Tbrid 5.0. The transmission is stuck in Drive and under a load in all positions. I have no reverse only drive. I checked the TV cable and it is attached. The transmission was always very strong. Worked great one day next didn't.

Any suggestions?

Broke shift cable??,,,,or maybe it popped out of the bracket???

The cable is hooked to the TBI. It may be broke intenally. I have yet to check that. If it came unattached at the Transmission I would think it would be hanging down. I will haev to getthe car in the air to see if the cable is moving when throttle is advanced.

Thank you,

If anyone has has this issue with their AOD before please advise.

Tony

Rick, the Shifter is on the Steering Column. It will go into Park, but when in Park and the motor is running the transmision is engaged and under a load. It does this in all positions, even Nuetral. The car will only go forward

Ok then...that's telling me that it is holding in park[altho is under a load, wanting to still go forward]....so your linkage is working....double check everything externally, but it sounds like the forward clutches are stuck on, and that trans is gonna have to come out.....keep us posted

Rick, Thank you for taking the time to look into my issue.

I was thinking that the Clutch plates got hot and melted together. I have one last question if you know. Is a C4 transmission better than the AOD that is currently in the car. I will not be utilizing it as a daily driver once I get it all back together. I want the strongest transmission that will bolt right back up.

Thanks again,
Tony

stick with the AOD,Tony....no need to change it to anything else.
