Aren't these supposed to be threaded?

That is what my wife said when I brought the halfnuts out of my 11x56 Sheldon lathe in the house. Anybody know where I can get replacements?

I know that mcmaster carr has some various sizes of acme threaded inserts that can be machined to size..

Look here
The catalog pages are 1052,1053 and 1054

Scroll down and there is an acme platform nut that may be able to be sawn in half and machined to fit your half nut cam.

I bought some to make new halfnuts for my Sharpe milling machine.

If those don't work then you may need to have some made. Any competent machine shop can make a set.

There are tons of references to sheldon lathes on the net, in some of the machine tool forums and I think there is even an owners group, (I can't fnd it right now), that may have a place to go for that sort of thing.

I know when you own old machinery you wind up making replacement parts.

BTW, I have a sheldon lathe, Mine is a 1959 13 X 40.
Mine needs its belts replaced on the variable speed drive...A job I really do not look forward to...

Later, mikey

Thanx Mikey
Ive spent considerable time looking for them and the only place i've found so far that even hints they might have them is in UK. Local shops say 6-8 weeks and I don't have the equipment to make them myself. Bourn and koch may be of some help if I can get them to answer.
Thanks again and will look into mcmaster.
