o I forgot there is a liquid teflon now, just make a friendly inquiry at a wholesale plumbing supply house, might make a cheap connection there too for materials. those guys like donuts too and ALWAYS feed the coffee kitty.

ThanX for all the info folks.

I'm off to Home Depot to get a couple of Pipe wrenches.

Problem is I have yet to see any fittings that are US made, here in Ontario. (all from China)

The pipe is US made I believe.

Liquid teflon : P/N 14H permatex, any auto parts store should have or be able to get it. Worked great for me.

I don't know what kind of pipe or fittings home depot sells.
We go to a place called fergusons here in Portland Oregon but I don't know if they are all over or not.
You might just go to a plumbing store like suggest and ask for american made pipe and fittings.
Like problem solver said donuts and feeding the coffee kitty will get you big points.

You'll pretty much have to go to a wholesale supply house to find American made stuff.
I use Rector Seal on all the gas heater installs I do, big pipe wrenches are a MUST! I use a spray bottle of leak check fluid that I buy in a gallon jug from a gas supply company, but soap and water will work.
Teflon tape will fill the little voids and pits in cheap pipe and fittings better, usually requires lots of wraps (in the right direction) and a lot of effort tightening with pipe wrenches.
At the very least, in your situation, I'd have large Channel Lock pliers, but the pipe wrenches are much better.
Good luck.
Later - Karl.

Fergusons and Locke supply are in a lot of major cities. I go to a local supply here that i have been using for 20 yrs. but I go to the other two if its closer to where I'm working.
