i would think gear would make more of a noticable difference.
build for a complete package. make it all work together. |

With it being an automatic it would be cheaper to go with a gear swap if you were planning on a fairly larger camshaft because you would have to replace the torque converter, but all in all, if the motor is completely stock except for the camshaft you are deciding on, it would probably suit you better with the gear swap anyways.
