ARP Nuts

ARP connecting rod nuts have one side plain, and the other side has a series of concentric grooves. Which side goes against the rod cap?

I assume the grooved side, as they must be there for a reason. Is this correct and does anybody know the reason?

My best guess is the grooves hold oil for lubrication which means a more accurate torque application, but I really don't know.

It dosen't matter which way it go. All that marking is the nut grade code.
