Post ATF FLUID

can some one tell me if ATF is always red? is there any other color it coms in ??

I think they color it red so people don't get it confused with something else. At least that is my theory, correct me if i am wrong guys.

i believe stock ford atf (mercon/dextron) is brown colored like motor oil.

Automatic trans fluid is RED, doesn't matter if it's Type A (ancient 40s/50s universal fluid), Dexron(for GMs)/Mercon(for Fords) (the same 2 products in one bottle, ain't America great!), or that late-model MoPar stuff ATF Plus3 (Whatever).
The coloration is for leak and fluid identification as our first responder noted! One of those SAE things!

I'm sorry, I left the old Ford Type F (used in 50s/60s/70s, replaced by Mercon/Dexron III. It's still red though.

Some of the synthetic tranny fluids are different colors.

I forget which brand is light blue........
