Auto Gear is on TV!

We're very excited to be able to share this. In February, our ace builder Phil went down to Tennessee and filmed for a couple days with the folks at the 'PowerBlock' specifically the "Musclecar" show. The episode is supposed to air this coming Saturday (5-18) on Spike TV at 10:30 eastern. I haven't seen the episode yet, so I don't know how its been edited, they may mention the price, they may not I do not know.

They decided on one of our proprietary M23 gearboxes with a 2.20 1st gear; they went with the aftermarket case, midplate, tailhousing, nitrided hubs and sliders, gundrilled mainshaft and modular cluster gear and the loose-helix M23 1st gear (for drag racing and severe duty); its the little "Muncie" that could, weighing in at 83 pounds. This is for a COPO re-creation using one of the GMPP 427 Big Blocks, I think it's serial # 002.

MuscleCar

I can't link directly to the episode.

Nathan

THANKS!

We've been involved in lots of cool stuff, but most of it is considered 'a competitive advantage', and most customers don't want us to tout their success.

Tommy is a super guy; I worked with him to spec the gearbox; and while we wanted to go 2.56 1st and 3.73 rear gear originally...it IS a COPO! LOL Phil said they really rolled out the carpet to make him feel at home down there (his segment took 2 days). Phil worked for GM as a master tech at the chevrolet dealership when these were new; and then went on to New Process Gear where he ran the test garage, building New Process and New Venture manual transmissions, transfer cases and transaxles for pre production and failure analysis. There was also some off road racing stuff through there I think. He's an incredible builder and really forced George and I to step it up in the office, to make a better product for more extreme situations.

The M23 isn't possible without a guy like Phil or George; and guys like you who push us to test our limits of whats possible with the old 'Muncie' design. Doing this show is as much a salute to the COPO heritage as it is to guys that get out there who believe in 3 pedals and high RPMs.
Thanks guys. Feel free to ask questions.

I saw the Autogear episode this last weekend, looks like a really nice transmission. How low of a 1st gear ratio is available?

The guys on Horsepower TV did one of my LSx RX-7 conversions last fall, the 1st episode aired a month or so ago. I was too shy to go before the camera...

2.98:1 on the M23 platform. We'll have 12 different M23 ratios by the end of this fiscal year (We have them on order, but its a 6-8month lead time plus ocean freight from Italy to NY harbor AND the Italians essentially take all of August off for 'holiday' err vacation.

The spot went great, the co host mis spoke and said we had a steel sidecover; we have investment cast steel FORKS and an A-356 T6 sidecover *sigh*. My ace builder was RUNNING THE CAMERA somewhere around that segment, they refilmed it but used the wrong one in post production... Ive taken 2 dozen phone calls today just from the show alone. It feels good to give something back and prove you dont *need* a 5 speed to get things done all the time

Very nice, Nate! I never would have found out about it if I hadn't decided to check "new posts" though. That is one fine piece of equipment!

I watched the show this afternoon. I record TV shows, watch nothing ''live'' any more

Good product and updates in various areas like case , gears, strengths of metals.

I broke many a Muncie trans in high school (early 70's)in my 68 SS Chevelle . Many u-joints broken, drive shafts tossed out... ah the good ol daze.

The builder - tech guy Phill did very will on TV.
