I have a 69 chevelle with a th350, when i have it in drive(3rd) and floor it it shifts way to fast out of first, it doesnt go past 3 grand. it takes off then shifts and the rpms arent up enough and so 2nd starts to early and it slows down then starts gainin speed. but if i have it in 2nd it will go to 4 or 5 grand in first then shift. does anyone have a clue what is the problem. is it my kick down or something in my transmission?

Have you looked at your govenor assembly? I would say that is a good place to start. Did it happen out of the blue?

sounds like your throttle pressure cable is not adjusted right,

its been goin on for awhile. but ill check those things.

Hey Chevelle: I had that same problem on a TH 350 that I had put a shift kit in. As soon as you would take off it would up shift before building RPM. It would also hunt when driving about thirty MPH. I found out that when we installed the shift kit on of the check balls had moved into another circuit and was blocking fluid flow. I bought a Transco kit from Sumitt Racing and it cured the problem. 327, Do you have an adjustable vaccuum modulator on your trans? You will get an early shift if the adjustment is wrong.

i dont know about that vacuum modulator. but ill try what shank said because it does have a shift kit. i think i found a transco kit, but its called transgo is this right? it seems like it is another shift kit that id have to put in.
