Auto upholstery

Hi. My name is Jessica. I am from Kingston, NY. My boyfriend and me opened a one stop auto shop and we also do auto upholstery. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get the raw materials to do the upholstery?
Thanks!

Online, try www.perfectfit.com, or www.rochfordsupply.com also www.miamicorp.com Don't they have any local suppliers in NY that sell only to the trade?

You can get some automotive fabric and vinyl at JoAnn and Hancock fabric stores if you have them in your area. Jeff

yeah, Joanne Fabrics, Michaless ect... I think, there's at least 1 of them, up on 1 of the hills there in Kingston, if not Joanne Fabrics has a huge outlet store in Albany, where Montgomery Ward used to be.

If you are going to upholster customer's cars, I would not get my materials from Joanns, micheals, or hancock.

I know Joanne's has automotive and marine grade vinyl, thing is, your paying shelf price, which can get expensive.

I agree.

If you are opening up a professional upholstery shop, dont bother with stores like that. Look to the following, they are true upholstery supply warehouse for professionals:

http://www.miamicorp.com/

http://www.keystonbros.com/

Welcome back Shawn. I bit my tongue and didn't say anything when Hancock Fabrics was suggested. That's not where a pro goes to buy supplies or fabric.

Jessica

How long have you been doing upholstery work? I'm just outside Poughkeepsie and might be looking to get some work done.

You can find a lot of sources in online catalogs. Better browse through them.
