Auto Window Glazing methods and materials

I'm looking for general info on Auto Window glazing methods and materials, modifying windows and windshields and building window mechanisms from scratch. I've done some Google searching and searched the KB here, but haven't found anything obvious.

What I'm discovering in my search are specific references like "Fixing a '47 Ford Window" that essentially cover a specific application and deal with replacing or repairing OEM parts. So, for example, if I'm putting windows in a car that never had them, how would I go about it? Or is that just too general a subject for someone to have written a HOWTO about.

I'm also sure that some of my lack of success is because I'm using the incorrect nomenclature for these things, but any references or suggestions where to look would be appreciated.
