Question Automotive/Cycle painting

I've painted many cars (especially mine!) and have a job to do some custom work on a guy's cycle tank and fenders-I have'nt had time to check yet-do the automotive suppliers (NAPA,PPG,etc.) have color charts for cycle manufacturers? The guy wants the same base w/tribal flames- where can I get his same base color? Thanks!

Who's the manufacturer of the bike? depending on the manufacturer you can get the same color directly from them or your local paint shop. Some of Harley Davidsons colors can only be baught from them. Doesn't mean you can't get the same color with a different name, just means that you get original name. Your paint shop can match any color so just bring in the tank or fender and tell them what type and brand and they should be able to mix it with little problem.

It's a Honda Shadow... my paint shop cannot match colors (I live in the Midwest)... they just look at ya funny when you ask tech questions... I'll probably check in a bigger city when I get time. Some kind of 'Spectre Red' with some flake in it... maybe I can convince him to change it!!! thanks <img src="graemlins/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="[mwink]" />

If you check with your local Honda motorcycle shop they can get the paint you are looking for!
either directly from Honda or from Color-Rite a manufacturer that specializes in colors for the bike manufactures!

Hey- thanks for the info! There is a bike shop about 50 miles away that should have a line on paint- I just 'assumed' I would use my local supplier- (even though he's limited I get the big discount!)... It's 10below zero here now so I won't be painting for a while anyway! p.s.(not the Sully from Godsmack...?!!) Thanks guys!
