Question AWD system...

I am in the planning stages of building a street rod or kit, which ever floats my boat. Not sure what make or model to build but I am thinking of putting an AWD system in the car.

Here is my question.

Does anyone know of a manufacture of an after market AWD system or can you recommend a system that I can get from a donor car that is reliable?

Thanks!

I am biased with training in GM systems, and the GMC Syclone/Typhoon AWD had a decent track record.

I would make a couple changes to this system depending on what your final intentions are for the vehicle you are in the designing stages of.

The deciding factor would be (1)the engine, (2) the transmission, and (3) the vehicle you intend on converting.

Engine and trans...

I am thinking of maybe a 350 RamJet engine and possibly a 700r transmission. But not sure. I am pretty new at this so I am still doing my research.

Just curious, how did you get that picture of a car under you handle on the left?

Muscarmad,

Did you ever get anywhere with this? Can you give us an update?

I agree, let us know what you find out.

That "picture of a car" under my username is an avatar, and you can get a custom one by sending a picture of just about anything you want (just keep it clean, were running a PG rated site here) to Jon, our site administrator.
Here is the explanation of the proper procedure.

How do I get a picture under my username? [edit your options]
These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: standard avatars you pick from our list of 130 different pictures, or custom avatars that come from a picture that you have.

To choose from one of our 130 standard avatars, go to my profile==>Edit Profile==>Change Avatar.

To choose a custom avatar, email us the picture that you'd like to choose. Send it to avatars@hotrodders.com. Don't forget to include your username in your email.

Yeah, I found a coulpe of manufactures of AWD setups and one was actually just opening a street rod division. Not sure how expensive they are but a couple of the ones I found where completer kits (minus Drive shaft of course).
