B&M Hole shot #20412 question

I've got a 20412 hole shot converter and would like some input on what (if any?) Improvements in performance in my th350 trans in my 76 F/bird after I swap my 350 pont. out for a rebuilt 400 w/mild cam ? Any idea if this would be an improvement or should I go with an original ? Thanks

The converter should be rated at roughly the RPM the engine starts to make power. You are sort of doing it backwards. Usually the engine parts are speced out and the converter is chosen after the engine power band is determined.

Well ,I found out my nephew had this still in the box new and I'm soon going to put a 400 in my F/bird so I thought it may work w/that set up and the $ was good ! If it won't work I thought I'd be able to find some one that would need it ! Thanks

That part # is listed as 2400 rpm stall, for TH-350 and Th-400 trans, and will also fit Powerglide that has been switched to a Turbo spline input shaft.

Could be just what you need, depending on what you have planned for a cam and powerband in your engine plans.

There's probably a converter that's a little more optimal for your combo, but that ones a pretty safe bet. 2,400 is fine with even most stock engines, and loose enough for a fairly cammed up engine as far as street cams go. (in my opinion)
I commented in another thread (and got called out for replying to a cpl year old one at that....late night and a few beverages, shoot me, lol) about a '65 full size Chevy I had in the late 80's. Stock 283, put in a turbo-350 with a Vega converter, and man, it surprised the crap out of me, and many who rode in it! It stalled around 2,700. Most would say too much for a stock cammed engine but I loved it.
