B&M Shift Improver - if installed wrong???

I have installed the B&M Shift Improver Kit and when it was done during the test drive we found that drive or reverse neither wrong worked. It shifts into them but does not do anything.

Could I have done something wrong to cause this or could it be transmission that we put it in was bad to begin with??

We got the transmission and have not used it until this kit was installed so we do not know if it already was messed up or something I did in the installation of this kit casued it.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible for an incorrectly installed shift kit to do this.

An 1987 TH-350 would be a TH 350C , which has a lock-up converter(designated by the C) and this has a different valvebody and different casting passages at the valvebody side of the case. A regular TH350 shift kit will not work with the lock-up converter TH350C, so check to make sure you have the correct kit.

An missing connecting link between the rooster comb and the manual valve in the trans can also do this. Easy to miss this on reassembly.

REsearched and found the difference of the TH350 and Th350C. The one I have is a TH350.

So would it more than likely just be a bad transmission already or could it be soemthing else?

Do you know if the transmission was in good operational shape before the B&M kit install ? A shift modification kit will not fix a bad trans
