Post back fire

I`m dealing with a 1980 Pontiac. it has a 305 chevy in it that`s still computer controlled, it`s got a feedback Q-jet on it that I just rebuilt. What happens is, it`ll start fine and may go 3 miles, then it starts back fireing thru the carb as if it`s running out of fuel, but I checked and it`s getting fuel, sometimes it`ll start right back up and idle, but if you accelerate it pops more and then goes dead and diesels real bad before it shuts off. other times it won`t start back for about 5 minutes, I honestly don`t fool with many computer cars. any help on what to look for is much appreciated.

sounds just like a problem that my buddy had 3 days ago.... come to find out it was a wiped cam lobe on #7 cylinder intake side. Changed it out and fixed all the problems. Hope that will help a little. Pull your vavle covers off and watch the movement on your rocker arms. Thats what got our attention.

Could it be a mis-fire problem? Have you checked plugs, wires, cap, and rotor?
