Back in the MoPar fold

Well, after fixing the starting problem with my old F-250 4x4 and the electrical shorts in the ignition system the darn thing was fairly dependable, but yesterday the steering box went out. The wife said enough! So tomorrow I pick up my new Dodge Dakota. It's a 00 with only 61K miles w/V8 and 5 speed so it will make a nice little hot rod truck.

Sounds nice.
Good thing its not that old V6. The timing chains on them are brutal.
Which V8 is it, the 5.2 or the 5.9?

In 2000 the only V8 with a 5 speed is a 4.7

Yep. 4.7 ltr. Don't know much about that motor yet but it looks like an overhead cam with port fuel injection. It's an SLT so it has all the bells and whistles.

Drove the Ford into the dealer this morning (very slow of course)..... glad to be rid of it. If I didn't have anything else on the burner I would have kept it and fixed it up but with one project not quite done and two more waiting for me to get to them, not to mention we're still finishing the house, I just don't have time to constantly mess with a POS 30 year old Ford.

Will post a pic of the Dakota soon AND some pics of my finished shop/garage.

I don't know about that...have a '93 Dakota w/3.9 V-6. Over 120K and never laid a wrench on the engine yet. 3 sets of brakes, 1 radiator, and 1 set of u-joints....retired it and replaced it with '06 Dak with the 4.7. Seems to be a very good engine. Still use the '93 as a beater........
