Back up or no back up lights

Just want to know if my 1964 Malibu ss should have back up lights or not if anyone can help me or tell me how I can find out. Thanks for any help

Not sure about 64, but I know they were an option in 62 GMs

They are in the bottom half of the taillight. Google Malibu 64 in images, many pics.
