Backing Board

I need to replace the backer board on some of my interior pieces, door panels and rear shelf. The cardboard like material, malamine?, is warped from moisture. It appears to be 1/8-in think.

What can I use to replace this material and where can I find it? Home Depot has a similar looking material, but it is 1/4-in, which is too thick.

Thanks,
Ed

Try these guys. They supply ABS board. Good workable stuff!

another place you might try if you are close, are places like TAP plastics, etc. I have bought full 4x8' sheets of 1/8" ABS for around $33.00 or so and cuts nicely on band saws and table saws with fine tooth blades.

In the thickness you are looking for, besides ABS, there is black waterboard which you would have to get through an upholsterer, and PVC foamboard, (also called expanded PVC or closed cell PVC,) brand names Maxxion or Sintra. This stuff is available online (4' by 8' sheets are available at www.usplastics.com) or from sign shops. It is cheaper than ABS, but more expensive than black waterboard.
