Depending on the style of hood you are wanting to reverse,
one way is to locate a 87-91 Buick LeSabre, the hood opens in the direction you want. There will be some fabricating, nothing major but all of the parts you need are there.
The operation of the LeSabre hood initially works like most other cars, when released it pops up slightly, then you release the safety catch and it pops up further, you then pull forward about six inches, then pull down. The hood stands almost vertical.
My T-type has this system. I have seen where others have used it on their projects.

I may be wrong but those Buick hoods don't open like most other cars. They work like the BMW with a latch at the front which raises the front of the hood and pivits it forward. At this point the rear slides forward and comes out of a pair of guides on each side. I think that it works that way.

The more common way at least with older cars is simply a large hinge on either side that the hood tilts up on. Some like a fifties T Bird or I believe the Vega uses a "J" shaped hinge looking a lot like the door hinges on a 55 Ford F-100.

Then the Vette for many years used a regular "Saloon door" looking hinge.

There are many ways to do it, mostly depending on the room at the front of the hood where these hinges need to be mounted.
What kind of car are we talking about?

hood

Take a look at a c3 vette. hinge system is very simple.
the latching mechanism leaves room for improvement though.

Ditto with Park Avenues of the same era.

Hey Fennerford....what are you wanting to reverse the hood on? There is a kit out now for Silverado trucks that reverses the way the hood opens so it may be something that could possibly be adapted to another type of vehicle. I'll see if I can find who makes it.
