backwards swap 5.7 to 4.3
Hey I could use some technical guidance. My old man wrecked (totaled) his 97 Chevy 1500 truck. The 4.3 and auto transmission in it has low miles and runs good (and it still runs after the wreck. I ran across a guy who has a 97 Chevy 1500 truck with a blown 5.7 engine. I can get this truck cheap and get my old man back on the road again if the swap is keep low buck. I plan on pulling out the bad 5.7 and putting the running 4.3 in. I know this defies all hotrod sense but we use this truck to haul boats and dirt bikes so the 4.3 is all we need. I just want to make sure I got everything covered. I can pull everything I need from the wrecked truck except radiator, ac condenser, because the truck is damaged up front. My main concern is wiring. If I pull the 4.3 engine, computer and wire harness will it just plug in to the good truck’s firewall harness? I believe the transmissions are the same 4L60E so I can reuse the existing one? What about motor mounts? I can pull the 4.3 mounts if they are different. What about fuel pump and lines, are they the same on both trucks? Exhaust will need modifications of course. I believe this should be pretty straight forward but just checking with some pros. Any advice or concerns let know. Thanks
