The only way a caliper can cause this is if it's leaking or the piston is being compressed into it from a warped or loose rotor which would make the first stroke or 2 only useful for taking up slack in the piston. If fluid was a culprit, you need a new master, caliper AND brake hose due to contamination that will kill the rubber. I think it sounds like a master cylinder issue that will return.
