ball joints

The best thing to do is to contact a parts house and ask them for the part numbers for both ball joints on both trucks. If the numbers match, you are in luck.

If not, then that means you have to modify the spindle by having the holes taper drilled to match the C-10 ball joints. Im kind of curious about some other issues, like the spindle heights, and the ackerman arms. Are they both front stear or rear stear? Are the ball joint mounting holes the same distance apart on both spindles? what about the tierod ends?

Are the ball joints from the 85 longer than the ones for the 62? Are they shorter? Are the balljoint tapers the same? Larger or smaller?

I have/had an article in Classic Trucks, I think, that told how to do just that.
If I can find it, I'll get you the month/year, so you can read it.

I can't find it. I'm sure it was back in 1998, on the "Six-pack To Go" project truck.

I loaned it to a buddy of mine, who wanted discs on his 65 1/2ton. I got it back, but seemed ot have misplaced it.

I think, but please research it, before you try it, that they used late model ball joints, on the early control arms. I don't remember what they did about the tie rod ends.
