I stuck a chevy 350 in there with about approx 400+hp

anyone think i will have problems with 8 inch slicks

no trans brake
3000 stall

probaly brake the stock u-joints first i think they are already on the way

The 8.5 should hold up to the 350 no problem, the slicks are another thing.
I would recommend pulling the axleshafts out of the rear, clean them really good and paint a straight line the length of the shaft, check them periodically and replace when they twist more than turn.
Also check the preload of the pinion, and backlash to make sure they are within spec's. Run it til it dies.

The slicks indicate to me that you will be racing? If nothing else, I would consider the poor guy in the other lane (or in the stands) while you're putting down atf under your tires shortly after your "U" joint leaves. He may also be surprised when your car leaves the line, breaks an axle, runs over the tree, and t-bones his car.

Nothing is cheaper or safer then showing up to race with the right equipment the first time. This typically takes a few years to sink in so if this aint good advice now, it will be when you're ready.
