Barry Grant carb ID Older model

Hi: I would appreciate any help you might have in identifying this Barry Grant carburetor. Trying to figure out cfm. It is a mechanical secondary dual feed 4-bbl. It has green removable venturis. It doesn't look like the demon series carbs. I could send pictures to an email address. model number is 7282010 GP engraved on small pad on outside of secondary part on main carb body on linkage side. Thanks

Heres how to decipher your Demon, except they dont list a 7 as a first digit. GC stands for general competition carb. Looks to be a 650 or 750 gasoline version.

Thanks but this is not a Demon. I think it is older than that.

Even if your carb was made before they started using the Demon name, the series numbers still apply

7-series, or model of carb(are you sure this is a 7 and not a 1)
28- Venturi diameter-Green-1.280"
2-Butterfly Dia-1 11/16" dia.(what size are yours?)
01-Booster style-Down leg
0-Fuel type-Gasoline
GC-Factory prep.-General Competition(single four barrel)

If your first digit is a 1, then the carb is a 650cfm

It is possible that the 1st number might be a 1 it was done with an engraver so the numbers are not perfectly clear. It has 1-11/16 pri & secondaries. I was told this carb came off of a 455 Olds. It has removable venturis. I saw a demon carb that had the venturis changed from green to red to increase the cfm. Do you know if that is possible with this carb. If this is a 650 cfm do you think it will actually flow more than 650 cfm? I just thought it must be bigger to run on a 455. This thing has bowls more like a holley than any of the demon carbs. I havent been able to find one like it that has the removable venturis. Thanks for your help I spent a lot of time on the internet trying to figure out what this was.

Red venturis(1.40") is one of the changes needed to flow 750cfm, there are other changes to idle air bleeds, high speed air bleeds, squiters, etc.

Look at BG's web page, all the info is there under specifications.

Barry Grant Carb

I put a couple of pictures of this carb in the photo gallery. I will wait on the sleeves unless someone has a set.
