basic spray gun setup?
i know there HAS to be a thread or article out there somewhere addressing my questions, but i have yet to find them. If someone could direct me to an appropriate article i would apprecaite it.
When i sprayed PPG 2k Mp282 Primer Surfacer on my car, the first coat seemed to go on very well, but then succesive coats caused "orange peel" and spatters. This is my first time painting and i feel rather ignorant of the proper set up for painting
I have a siphon fed generic automotive paint spray gun, (Not an HVLP)
Is it preferable to have more or less pressure ( my paint specs give me a 10 psi work space )
Do i use a lot of flow or a little, ( how wide do i open up that knob?)
Ive heard you use varying distance away from the surface depending on the paint your spraying? Does this apply to BC/CC?
And what would be the cause of that orange peel splottchyness i was expiriencing. In some areas it was ridiculously smooth and nice, but in others it was terrible splotch. I am fairly certain i kept a consistent distance and parallelity (is that a word?) to the surface. Perhaps i sprayed on another coat too soon after the first one? Would that cause such effects?
