Basic Starter Wiring

To see a diagram on a Basic Starter Wiring go to www.ss-restoration.com. It also provides part numbers for the starter and ignition switch. Pretty cool. Hope this helps!

How do I hook up and run engine in a 1966 Dodge truck with a flat head 251 CI engine? I just want to run engine for now. truck has a distributor, coil & ignition coil resistor.

That starter diagram on ss-restoration.com doesn't look correct.

The HEI wire should go to the IGN terminal on the ignition switch and the ST terminal on the ignition switch should go to the S terminal on the starter.

The way its shown, as soon as you turn the key on, the starter would start cranking until you turned the key off.
