bastard frame clip

i'm doing an off the wall clip with a 66 bronco frame grafted onto a 71 ltd front clip and was looking for some input. both frames are tubes and the graft has gone well but i'm on the fence on whether to fish plate it. the conections are but welded and the transition is clean with 3x4 box tubing.

66 drop bronco, chopped 4 inches
460, c6, versailles rear, 3.50 gear

the trans mounts at the bronco frame and the engine on the ltd. with this set up do you guys think a frame skid plate under the splice would suffice as the motor trans bridges the gap between the two adding some torque (ie 485 ft lbs) transfer/resistance? I hate the idea of over engineering this to the point of making and ugly overweight connection.

ps the joints were mig welded.

I don't know your capability, but from what you have said it sounds like you know what you are doing. If welded properly and not grinding all the weld off,a diamond shaped fish plate under the frame splice is all you need.

Agreed, But if you're going for the anal build, diamond fish plates
over every weld is the way to go...
