Post Batmobile Concept Chrysler? Help!

I need help to identify and find some history on a car I have. It looks like it could have been a candidiate for the Batmobile, Red, Big fin, cones out the back, built on a 1958 Chrysler platform with a Fury motor. I have pictures of it and can send them to anyone who thinks they can help me identify the history of the car. Thanks

Personally I would say someone had too much time on their hands and a little too much beer in the fridge!!!! It would be kinda wild fixed up though. What does the script say on the rear fin?

Kkevin, the script on the rear fin says "toranado". The information he gave me was that it had fury running gear. my hypothesis was that its a fury base (frame running gear) that someone got happy with a welder and saw. The rear 1/4's are from a '59-'60 cadillac and the fin and headrests are total fabs as well as the from from as far as I can tell. I think they used the "toranado" from a caddy in the scrap heap. Without the huge rear fin It might, maby posibly have been kinda cool, with some more mods and some crazy popsicle colors it might still be

Yeah this is quite the crazy ride. I am told it had three doubles for carbs at one time. I was also told by the previous owner that it was featured in Car & Driver a long time ago. Pass the details around and see if anyone you know knows anything, it is so unique that someone has to know something . . . .I hope....

Wenlock,
I did a search on Car & Driver and ran across this <a href="http://www.bobsokol.com/car+driver/" target="_blank">http://www.bobsokol.com/car+driver/</a> What you have looks like something maybe this guy could have done. You might want to e-mail him and take a wild shot and see if he knows anything about it. Also I would e-mail Car & Driver, show them the pics and see what they say. You'll only be out a few minutes of your time. If it was in the magazine ask them if you could get a copy of the article as I imagine they have copies of all articles archived. Just a suggestion.

Kevin,

Great suggestions. I sent Bob the photos and I have emailed Car & Driver. I hope to hear back from both of them, if I do I will post it right away. Thanks for the effort.

if the price is right I would buy it before you find out it was a proto type for the batmobil or the green hornet. it may just be worth it's weight in gold and if not it will be a show stopper and a one of a kind.Or being from Utah it could be something built for the salt flats speed record.

I received this reply from Bob Sokol who had his cars featured in Car And Driver, "Cool ride! Never seen one like it. Looks like it takes 3 lanes of traffic to do a U-turn! Think the TORNADO chrome is from an Oldsmobile (Is it a TorOnado cut down?). I like the curved rear window used in the front door to meet the roof. And the hard-top convertible...
Are you driving it yet?

Bob

Steve and Alec Baldwin (movie stars) were in town to do a movie and saw the car. Steve offered to buy it from the previous owner. He was not willing to sell at the time. I have too many projects and I am going to let this one go. It has some kind of history but I don't have it yet.

Sorry, I have NO info on this car...but here is what you can do to it!!
yes, I was obviously inspired by a specific car....

ditch the roof
chop the winsheild
weld the doors
remove all the extra chrome
paint it black
out line it in red pinstripes
put really fat Radir wheels on it....

I'm dying to hear the history on that beast.

Paul,

We might need to turn this into the next superhero car. You did a mighty fine job on that retouch. I haven't heard from the George Barris group yet but I will post any update I get in my search.

Crazy,
Now that ride looks sweet. All someone needs is a pair of Superhero Underoos and they'll good to go. Nice job.
