The guy who bought the car only paid that much because other people wanted it badly too! I.E.... He wasn't the only fool!

On the other hand... these "fools" have accumulated a lot more money than I ever did... so am I actually the fool here???

Being in this custom paint biz, I have learned what, at the time, was an unexpected thing. Not everyone likes the same things!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the many jobs I've done have taught me that my "task" is to help them create "their" vision... not mine! It was hard at first, but today I enjoy the variety of "themes", no matter how bizzarre they may be!!! (Of course, my own taste is "less conservative" than most enthusiasts prefer today, so that helps.) Sigh. {:-)

People will pay good money for the things they really want.... He has way more then I do for sure... And if I had it I wouldn't care what something cost if I really wanted it.. He made it.. He can spend it how he feel's....If he can spend that on a car.. He must have a lot more.. Would I spent that on that car ??? NOPE !!!! I can build it for a lot less...

The guy made what he would probably consider an investment. When or if he tires of the "work of art" it would be interesting to see if it appreciates. IMO, I wouldn't think so, people were swept up in the heat of the moment, George Barris was there (he's so full of hot air it's a wonder he doesn't float away!) to promote the car.

I hated that T.V. show. I was a comic book freak as a kid, got all my comics for free after they were disposed of. I read thousands of them. What they show did to the comic book was disgraceful to a young kid, probably 13 at the time. If I had an extra 5 mil laying around I would buy the car and let Big Foot crush it, charging $100 bucks a head to recoup some of my money.....

Whoa there Danny, holy cow you need to release some of the anger, go give Barris a big hug and let it go.

I loved the tv show and had never read a comic in my life. Isn't it funny how different things can be. That car was the coolest. What is most funny about the car is Barris really didn't even design it, Ford styling studio did and all Barris did was put some cartoon BS on it.

Yep, George is no Sam, that's for sure.

That's what my wife said when I was listening to Barris spout off about making the car a star...what a crock. He is the ultimate promoter.

I lost all respect for him years ago when a friend of mine told me about a car he built here in San Leandro Ca and Barris took credit for it putting his crests on the cowl! Never even painted it or touched it with a wrench!

To each his own. Personally, I think a couple GT-40s would've been a better investment. Especially since they are fully functioning vehicles instead of a slapdash movie prop.

They said the car was made from a Ford show car. Didn't the previous owner get murdered or something? A Batman collector had the car in his collection.

There's been numerous Batmobiles built through the years. This car by Barris was bought for a buck from Ford, kept by him through the years.

It was a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car before Barris had his way with it.

I'd buy that for a dollar...

Barrett Jackson has gotten so silly. A bunch of rich guys seeing how much money they cab spend. I've seen 1 person spend 10M on buying cars there . Must be nice..lol

What about the "green hornet" mustang that was bid up to 1.8M and didnt reach the reserve! Of course it's one of craig jacksons cars.
