Bbc 427

Any opinions about the 427 BBC ?? In the near future I will be shopping for a 427 BBC too build. What kind of price range do you think I'll be looking at for a good rebuild-able 427 ???

Will be several that will say just build a 454 but for those of us that like the big bore short stroke basicly small block of big blocks they are great.... (see the pic`s in my gallery)

They are getting harder and harder to find but are out there and most likely you`ll have to piece one together...? Cranks are cheap from $100-$250 and of course the 454 block will work perfect as will std. length rods... Pistons will be the more difficult area as will be the cost... Large oval port heads are the ticket (049` & 781 castings with the larger valves installed...)

Just say big blocks and big bucks and your on your way...

Well, I'll be in no big hurry. I have pleanty of time too search for parts and build this engine. Kind of nice being older and willing too spend a few years on a car.

These should give you some ideas. For about the same price, you could build a 468, just something to think about.

Most of these are already built or have been upgraded at some time, so you could probably get one cheaper that has not been touched but I thought this would give you an idea.

In all honesty, I'm kind of eyeing This 427 crate engine. That 7 year / 70,000 mile warrenty sounds pretty good to me. May not have all the preformance goodies, but I can always add those later on

Sounds like a fair deal.Even cast parts are o.k.for mild performance.Add the cost of shipping both ways or the core charge if you do not have an acceptable core.
