what gear and stall converter?

10:1 cr needs a cam in the 290 to 300 duration range (advertised).

Don't go too crazy with the lift as that will wear out valve train parts in a hurry. I would try to stay under 0.600".

Furthermore, a LSD 3.73 gear with a 27 inch tire and a 10 inch 2800 rpm stall converter would work well with a 496 cid, 290 degree cam, and 10:1 cr.
